The group held its Winter R&R event for members, it was a fun-filled event of cheer and camaraderie. This event also gave numerous grants to deserving veteran groups from numerous fund-raising events throughout 2022
Our guest speaker Laura Gonzalez Gamba presented to the group regarding her services and offered an hour-long mini class today for attending members including samples of tai chi and other techniques used address balance issues, mobility, diabetes, and other issues people face every day as we age.
Laura is a certified Master Senior Trainer with the University of Illinois Chicago's Diabetes Empowerment Education program (DEEP), a certified coach for Tai Ji Quan moving for better balance through the Oregon Research Institute, a certified lay leader for Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns about Falling through Boston University and a certified Tai Chi for Arthritis instructor through the Tai Chi for Health Institute.
Laura will be offering free classes to GLVFA members in the near future. Details of when she will be available for class sign-ups will be posted here on the website in the near future. It is encouraged for everyone to sign up for her classes, they were very entertaining and informative, not to mention valuable to loosen up our joints, stretch out our unused muscles and also to gain a better mental state through the process of tai chi (breathing control).

We started our convoy to Bushnell National Cemetary at 6:30 AM at the GlenLakes Clubhouse on Saturday, December 17th, 2022. Although we had a smaller turnout of GLVFA members this year, we represented the organization well amongst the many hundreds of people from various groups (schools, boy scouts, girls' organizations, veteran groups, motorcycle vets, etc.). The pictures presented here tell a good story of the day.
