GLVFA has begun to campaign on behalf of the brick pavers program associated with the memorial wall project. We have added a new honor roll section to recognize members and friends who have purchased a brick paver to commemorate their time in military service or to honor a loved one who served. Please consider purchasing a paver brick to help support our association achieve its goal in building a memorial wall complete with a beautiful walkway honoring your time (or loved one) in service. Amongst the many great offers given to veterans on Veterans Day 2022, there are a few notables we would like to highlight for you. GLVFA Golf Event Golfers and Volunteers: This deal begins at 5am which means if you want to have a complete breakfast before the golf event, this is an opportunity you can take advantage of. Golden Corral – November 14, 2022 Military Appreciation Night will be held on Monday, November 14 from 5pm – close. Most people don't know that there is a bunker located near Brooksville airport which was built as part of the new Brooksville Army airfield in 1942. Those of you who have driven by the bunker and noticed it probably thought it was an old storage bunker. Good guess but it wasn't used for that. What it was used for, from a historical perspective, is now being brought to light as an upcoming Hernando County war memorial. And watch this You Tube video to see the bunker up close as well as given a nice history lesson from a local You Tuber: |
