On Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, the membership held its monthly meeting at the GlenLakes clubhouse. Representatives of Florida Tax Advisors, a regular sponsor of the GLVFA annual golf event, reviewed the latest in options for investment vehicles with a focus on how members can reduce their tax liability when having to withdraw funds from their annual 401K required minimum distributions (RMD) through leveraging withdrawal amounts for charitable donations (all or part of the annual withdrawal required). The information discussed was enlightening and potentially helpful for some members to reduce their overall annual tax burden. For more specific details, it is advised to contact the Florida Tax Advisors directly and request further information on this particular IRS feature for RMD withdrawals. Their contact phone number is: (352) 398-4919 -------------------------------------------- As a second presenter, from the Hernando County Sheriff's Department, Pam Johnson informed us about their department's well-care line. The department established a "CARE LINE" program for the security and well-being of those people living alone who would like daily contact with someone who cares. Ms. Johnson explained how this service has helped people in the community and has saved actual lives (she detailed a recent incident). She highlighted the fact that anyone can receive a time-scheduled phone call from the department. to ensure one is doing well. No answer calls will initiate a deputy dispatch to one's residence. For further information regarding this program, especially if you know of someone who would greatly benefit from it, please refer to the Hernando County Sheriff's website or download their brochure using the button below.
